Product Installation and Services:

To assure user safety, long-term equipment stability, and the compatibility of all system components with vehicle safety equipment, (i.e. airbags), installation of mobile computing equipment requires expert product selection and proper installation. In order to assure vehicle operator and passenger safety CDCE’s mobile installation teams are experienced in adapting to ergonomic differences that exist in vehicle makes and models and the broad array of equipment configurations present in seemingly “standard” vehicle fleets. CDCE helps users see their mobile computing tools as an asset, not a nuisance—we provide tough tools for tough workers that do tough jobs.

Proper mounts and appropriate mounting configurations make equipment user friendly and significantly reduce total cost of ownership by extending the useful life of installed products.

CDCE’s proprietary Power Distribution Isolation System protects the vehicle’s battery from being accidentally discharged if the computer is left on for an extended period of time.

CDCE’s experience allows us to propose the cleanest, safest, and most user-friendly solution for in-vehicle mounting. The Toughbook will be docked in the appropriate port replicator and positioned in front of the dash on a base and pedestal. CDCE’s proposed mounting system allows different users to quickly adjust mount height and angle setting to match their ergonomic needs and it makes the Toughbook easily accessible from the driver’s or front passenger’s seat. CDCE’s proprietary Power Isolation Kit will be utilized to safely power the Toughbook and printer without harming the vehicle’s power system. It also protects the vehicle’s primary battery from being inadvertently discharged by the computer—drivers are never left stranded in the field because of a dead vehicle battery. All cables will be neatly concealed in split-loom tubing under the seat or dashboard. The Toughbook will be removable and useable outside the vehicles by simply undocking it from its lockable, quick-release port replicator that not only secures the Toughbook, but also eliminates wear on computer ports from all external cable connections. CDCE’s proposed installation uses little in-vehicle space between the front seats and maximizes driver/passenger comfort and safety.

A trunk-mounted, slide-out shelf offers clean and convenient organization for a removable Toughbook computer, wireless modem booster, and an in-vehicle printer. Equipment can be easily secured, removed, or replaced when needed.

A BMW motorcycle with trunk-mounted Panasonic CF-34 and a handlebar-mounted removable MDWD with magnetic stripe reader and fingerprint scanner provide convenient tools for a motor officer to quickly complete the task.

The attached references will attest to CDCE’s installation capabilities, as well as an overall satisfaction index. Since each vehicle may contain differing radio and accessory placement, often each installation is slightly customized. CDCE’s experienced installation teams are expert at working through installation issues of this kind; and typically arrive on site with additional components to complete even the most unique installation issues the same day.

A lockable port replicator secures and quickly releases its Toughbook for outside vehicle use.

By integrating wireless technologies with rugged notebooks, handheld devices, existing computer infrastructure and data services, CDCE has created a unique mobile solution that increases field productivity, improves customer satisfaction and reduces overall operational costs of wireless computing.

Single Point of Contact to Solve all Service Needs

CDCE offers a single point of contact for all procurement, configuration, installation and service needs. A qualified CDCE technician is just a call away and in most cases can meet face-to-face with our client within minutes, or a few hours when needed.

Because department vehicles come in different makes, models, years, and varying configurations within the passenger compartments, choosing a company that can quickly adjust to each vehicle’s needs is an important decision. Installation of mobile computers requires appropriate product selection, appropriate vehicle surveying and installation design, as well as experience in installation. CDCE always reviews current mounting options with our clients to determine the most cost effective and cleanest mounting solutions in all of the needed variations for specific vehicles. As fleet vehicles are retired or replaced with newer vehicles over the upcoming years, CDCE can easily provide the services needed to efficiently swap and adapt the city’s mobile computer systems to the new vehicles.

Top Customer Satisfaction
In a sample of 30 service calls summarized in February 2004, customers ranked CDCE services and customer interface as Good to Excellent, 97% of the time.

Scalable Installation Services
CDCE provides scalable support with after hours, on-site installation service utilizing three installation teams and four mobile field service technicians. Scheduling installations and service calls around your fieldworkers’ shifts helps to minimize the impact on getting their jobs done and enables your departments to keep their vehicles and staff in the field during their normal working hours where they can meet the needs of their customers and constituents.

At our installation facilities, CDCE can house up to five vehicles being serviced at one time under cover and in a locked, secure environment for vehicle and asset safety.

CDCE’s Permanent Display Removable Computer (PDRC) application can be equipped with a separate Mobile Data Wireless Display (MDWD) that slides conveniently into its receptacle under the unit’s adjustable keyboard.

Extensive Analytical Services
At CDCE, we also function as a consultant and solution project coordinator to our customers. We do not push technology and pseudo-solutions that may have no relation to the business at hand, or the overall business needs of our customers.

One of the greatest things we at CDCE are able to do for our customers is help to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of current field service computer systems and how they operate. Our 1st line field supervisors, and technicians have extensive ride-along time with patrolmen and trouble-shooters. We know our customers’ field and emergency crew teams could use better tools to make their jobs safer and more efficient and we diligently strive to provide those tools along with a single point of contact to support and help them perform their tasks.

Wireless solutions should smoothly integrate and complement your business requirements both now and in the future. We know you and your people have a tough job to do and so does your equipment. Your mobile field force needs to be productive and safe utilizing various pieces of equipment to accomplish their jobs. It is a wise choice for a user to select a company that takes a holistic approach to deploying a wireless technology and considers total cost of ownership along with system/equipment benefits and optimal functionality in the field when making a solution recommendation.
