Mobile Product Installation and Services

When installing mobile computing equipment, expert product selection and service is a necessity. It ensures user safety, long-term equipment stability, and the compatibility of all system components with vehicle safety equipment. CDCE's installation teams are experienced in adapting to the ergonomic differences in various makes and models, as well as the equipment configurations in seemingly "standard" vehicle fleets. Our goal is to help our customers implement reliable mobile computing tools that will help them meet the requirements of their demanding environments. CDCE proposes the cleanest, safest, and most user-friendly solution for in-vehicle mounting:

  • The Toughbook is docked in the appropriate port replicator and positioned in front of the dash on a base and pedestal.
  • The mounting system allows users to quickly adjust mount height and angle setting to match their ergonomic needs and makes the Toughbook easily accessible from the driver's or front passenger's seat.
  • CDCE's Power Isolation Kit safely powers the Toughbook and printer and protects the vehicle's primary battery from being inadvertently discharged by the computer-- drivers are never left stranded in the field because of a dead vehicle battery.
  • All cables are neatly concealed in split-loom tubing under the seat or dashboard.
  • The Toughbook is removable and useable outside the vehicle when undocked from its lockable, quick-release port replicator. The port replicator not only secures the Toughbook, but also eliminates wear on computer ports from all external cable connections.
  • The installation uses little in-vehicle space between the front seats and maximizes driver/passenger comfort and safety.

Because each vehicle may have different radio and accessory placement, installations are often customized. CDCE's installation team is expert at working through such issues, and typically arrives on-site with additional components to fix them the same day. By integrating wireless technologies with rugged notebooks, handheld devices, data services, and existing computer infrastructure, CDCE has created a unique mobile solution that increases field productivity, improves customer satisfaction, and reduces overall operational costs of wireless computing.
